After I formatted my hard disk drive last August I lost some free fonts which I didn't backup, including the Bauhaus font which I used for aigoo.net's text-based logo. I had to look it up while renovating that site last month. After trying some font identifiers returned by Google's search result, I found Identifont very impressive.

First of all, it is free of charge. Secondly, it comes with a nice and clean user interface. Lastly and most importantly, all fonts are categorized systematically on their database, which allow them to lead you to the fonts you're looking for by answering simple questions about the font's characteristics. Anyone who has an image of a word typed with a font can answer those questions easily. It took me sixteen quick questions or less than three minutes to get a list of thirty fonts which were possibly what I was looking for even though I only had an image of four letters in that font.
So the next time you need to identify a font, don't hesitate to pay them a visit ;)
